Race for the Cure

It's that time of year again.... when we head out to all sorts of cancer walks, fundraisers, etc. It's such a great way to take advantage of the gorgeous spring weather! And help some VERY good causes at the same time!

So.... on May 10th, we are Racing for the Cure!

Cancer is a disease that I think has affected every person I know in one way or another.... so let's fight it! Let's get rid of it! Why not start with fighting breast cancer on May 10th?

Who wants to come join us??

You can register online up until May 7th at the following location - http://www.active.com/framed/event_detail.cfm?EVENT_ID=1536735&CHECKSSO=0&RESET=0

If you don't feel like walking, you can even register to "Sleep In For the Cure" and they will mail you a T-shirt. Haha!

Anyway, if you can't make it, please consider contributing... every little bit helps! Use the link below to donate at our fundraising page. You will receive email confirmation of your donation and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation. I thank you in advance for your support, and really appreciate your generosity!!

Adopt a Room

Join The Big Give, Heart 2 Home, Utah Foster Care Foundation, the SKIDS Foundation and Channel 4 in helping improve the lives of a foster family in Orem!

The Thill Family in Orem have opened their home to 32 foster children over the years and currently have 14 adopted children living in their home... plus their 2 biological children. Needless to say, space and money are very limited!

Heart 2 Home is working to give this family's kitchen a much needed makeover, but we need your help too to make this project complete! We are looking for sponsors to "adopt a room"! If you have a group of friends or family members that would be willing to contribute to the makeover of an "adopted room", please let us know! If you work for a company that you think would be willing to "adopt a room" to decorate, please let us know! These rooms are small and are shared by a handful of children each, but the rooms are also very much in need of some new linens, decor, furniture, etc.

This family has done so much to help others.... let's show them that we care and make this home a better, more comfortable place for this great family!

Please let me know if you can help! We need all the help we can get and IT ALL HAS TO BE DONE BY FRIDAY!!!!

Little Red Riding Hood - June 7th

Very cool event that I just read about on a friend's blog - http://www.bbtc.net/

Get all the info at their site, or read below -

SAVE THE DATE!
Little Red Riding Hood — June 7, 2008 Women Only Cycling Event! No Cowboys are allowed to ride but they are more than welcome to volunteer!

Registration Now Open!

little Red Riding Hood

The Bonneville Cycling Club invites you to participate in its fully supported, non-competitive, Women only century.

Spend the day riding through beautiful Cache Valley in Northern Utah. This year we will also have the popular 36, 46, 64 an 80 mile route options for those riders that feel they can't quite ride the full 104 miles. This ride is one of only two women only metrics in the U.S. The route is a loop through the Valley on rural & country (paved) roads. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills (that means there are NO big climbs).

Last year the Little Red Riding Hood raised over $17,000 which was donated to the Huntsman Cancer Institute and earmarked for breast cancer research. Honoring that tradition, this year's Little Red will again be raising money for some of the most serious issues facing women today.

Once again, this year, to continue LRRH's reputation of having the best road support, the great team of Bingham Cyclery, and Contender Bicycles will be on hand to give their road support and make minor bike adjustments before the ride. Utah ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) of Box Elder, Cache, and Salt Lake counties will assist with on road communications as well as SAG. This combined cyclist support effort makes this event one that you must not miss.

Don't miss out on this amazing event!

Asthma Walk - May 3rd

Now it is your turn to get involved and you could get your own personal reward for doing so. Put together a team today and go to www.lungutah.org and click on the Asthma Walk. Be one of the first 10 teams to register online and then call Don at 484-4456 and we will send you a Boondocks gift card worth $25.00. Please join us once again and help make this the best Asthma Walk ever! The Walk will be held on May 3, 2008 at Sugarhouse Park.

Registration starts at 8 am and the Walk will start at 9 am. This year let’s make it a celebration, and help those with asthma Breath Easier!

Devastating News...

A little girl 7 yr old girl went missing on Monday here in Salt Lake…. Despite the best efforts of law enforcement, the community and many foundations, churches and organizations, she was found dead in an apartment not far from her home. Tragedies like this just make me sick, and I wish they would stop.

It is always inspiring, however, to see the community come together in times of need – and this family definitely needed everyone’s efforts, support and help yesterday.

Someone posted a sign near her home that really touched me. It read - You are never so lost that angels can't find you. I know in my heart that this little girl was watched over by angels and I pray that she did not suffer. I sincerely hope that her family is comforted by the fact that she is home with her Heavenly Father now.

Just take a moment today to be thankful for the blessings that you have in your life, and please include this family in your prayers during this tragic time.
