Forwarding information about a great project that needs some help...

Hi everyone!

A friend of my Dad's in Scotland is organizing a trip to Utah for the "Singing Children of Africa," a group of Orphans from Kenya. This is a group my Dad has helped for many years and apparently they are great.
They are attending and participating in the InHarmony International Children's Music Festival which is being held here in Salt Lake City next month. Website: http://www.inharmony08.com/

They are in need of two things:

1. Hosts for the children and teachers in SLC between August 17-21. Here is the schedule:

Aug 17th - Pick up in the Salt Lake area (evening)
Aug 18th -Drop off at This is The Place (a.m.) Perhaps need a packed lunch. The evening is time off with hosts.
Aug 19th - This day is still in the planning but maybe they could spend the day with the hosts? Evening concert at the Tracy Aviary (might need to drop off kids and pick them up at the Aviary or central location)
Aug 20th - host drop off at Orchard Elementary School for 9am and good byes.

2. Financial sponsorship for transportation (coach hire). They have negotiated a large discount with a coach company but still need a business to cover the rest of the cost.

I am writing to see if you know anyone who has space to accommodate any of these kids or teachers, or if you have business contacts that would be willing to take on the transportation sponsorship.

Also if you have opportunities for the kids to sing, (firesides, etc) they can do a concert at the drop of a hat.

Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone you think can help.

Thanks so much.

purchase new clothes = fight cancer!

I love it when I find ways to do two of the things I am passionate about at once…. Shop and Fight Cancer! In case you want to do the same thing… here are a couple new sites that I have just found out about…

~ FatCyclist.com – If you are into cycling, or just like wearing the apparel, order the 2009 Fat Cyclist jersey. From what I understand, the proceeds go to help in the site owner’s wife’s fight against cancer. Get one here - http://www.fatcyclist.com/2008/07/08/special-dark-2009-fat-cyclist-jersey-unveiled/

~ Ford has gotten in on the Fight for a Cure (with the Susan G Komen Foundation) – Check out their site at http://www.fordvehicles.com/warriorsinpink/

You can enter to win the Warrior in Pink Mustang (or buy one yourself), nominate someone as a beautiful warrior, or just buy some adorable new apparel. I may just do all three!!

And I don’t know about you… but I really love that “Warrior Cap”, and several of the t-shirts, and the hoody, and the woven scarf!! Check them all out - http://www.shopwarriorsinpink.com/default.cfm?fuse=home

When: July 11th

Time: 8:00pm til whenever

Featured Artist: SHAUN BARROWES
Top 48 on AMERICAN IDOL, Season 7

http://www.shaunbarrowes.com

"Shaun Barrowes' first album of original songs, Big Bang Theory, is a sophisticated blend of jazz-pop, balladry, and big-band theatrics. Barrowes' clear-eyed enthusiasm is refreshing; his love of the music is contagious. While Big Bang Theory is clearly a nod to a rich musical past and an appreciation of its wide-screen cinema, Barrowes' pop leanings give the music a contemporary framework—the songs are both a longing glance backward and a running jump forward."
