Upcoming events...

I am so happy to see the salt lake area singles community stepping it up with parties that also have a purpose behind them (a purpose besides meeting new single people, that is.. haha!) Here are a few options that are coming up where you can meet some new people, party it up, and help out with a very worthy cause. Check them out….

And don't forget to find a Relay for Life near you and go check it out!

June 27

Carnicue (carnival + barbecue)
Friday, June 27th 7:00-10:00 p.m.

5859 Quail Creek Lane (11430 N), Highland

We will be collecting food for the food bank.

Sponsored by Highland South Mid-Singles. Fabulous garden setting with super fun games, prizes and much, MUCH, more.*

*Terrific bluegrass concert at 9:00 p.m.

Bring $2 (for the carnival), food for the food bank (please be generous), $5 without food donation, your own meat as well as your food assignment. If your last name starts with A-H, bring a salad or side dish, I-P bring treats or dessert (not frozen), and Q-Z bring drinks/chips/other snacks. We will provide water, paper products, utensils, and condiments. We will have some tables and chairs set up, but we suggest bringing blankets and/or camp chairs, especially for the concert. Bring a jacket as it can get cool when the sun goes down.

The coals will be hot from 7:00 to 8:00 and then we will play games from 8:00-9:00ish. Come early for the best prizes.

Parking is non-existent on the property so you will need to park on 6000 W and walk in. Carpool if you can. If you have big items to drop off (such as salad bowls, etc.) drive to the end of Quail Creek Lane and walk your food in (60 second walk), then drive back to 6000 west to park.

>From South Utah County: Take the Main Street exit in American Fork and turn right. Head east on Main Street to 100 W; the street just past the Towne Cinema theater. Turn left and head north into Highland (about 6 miles). In Highland 100 W becomes 6000 W. Stay on 6000 W until you come to a lighted intersection of SR-92 and 6000 W. Go straight through the intersection. You will go down a dip and Quail Creek Lane is on the right as you're coming out of the dip. Park on 6000 W and walk in (about 5 minutes) to the end of Quail Creek Lane. Balloons will be posted to direct you to the property. When you get to the end of the street you will see a small dirt road going over a hill. Walk over the road and the party is on the other side.

Coming from SL: Take the Highland/Alpine exit and head east to 6000 W (about 5 miles). Turn left. Go down the dip and Quail Creek Lane is on the right. Follow the rest of Utah County directions.

Stephanie: 472-4649

Rachel: 367-6606

No children please.

In case of inclement weather, the party will be cancelled. :(

"Shaun Barrowes' first album of original songs, Big Bang Theory, is a sophisticated blend of jazz-pop, balladry, and big-band theatrics. Barrowes' clear-eyed enthusiasm is refreshing; his love of the music is contagious. While Big Bang Theory is clearly a nod to a rich musical past and an appreciation of its wide-screen cinema, Barrowes' pop leanings give the music a contemporary framework—the songs are both a longing glance backward and a running jump forward."

And one other opportunity to give that I thought some of you might want to take part in…

Dear friend,

On May 20th of this year, my husband, Jason, and Travis, a friend hired for help, were building our house in Saratoga Springs . At around 10 a.m., a fierce gust of wind caused the scaffolding they were working on to collapse beneath them falling close to 30 feet.

Travis shattered both ankles, broke both legs, and fractured his spine after landing feet first in a window well.

Jason, on the other hand, landed on a bed of rocks—face down! He crushed every bone in his face.

After being life-flighted he endured eight hours of emergency surgery. The surgeons said there was only bone dust and fragments left, every bone entirely shattered in his face, he came out with over 20 titanium plates, complete with 60 titanium screws. To help further stabilize his face, his jaws were wired shut. A tracheotomy was performed to allow him to breathe and to be tube fed.

Both Jason and Travis are now faced with more intense surgeries, months of recuperation and physical therapy…and an uncertain future.

But to make things more tragic, they don't have any insurance coverage. As a result, they are now faced with significant, increasing medical bills and are still in need of more medical treatment.

Because Travis has no Insurance to receive any medical attention, he was sent home in a wheelchair and moved to Wyoming with his mother. From what we hear, he may not walk for a year, or have his foot amputated. The extent of the damages for both these men is still undetermined.

Many people have asked what they can do to help….

JASON'S MIRACLE $1 GAME:

Rachel had an idea and decided to create the following game for those who would like to contribute to medical treatment/surgeries for Jason and Travis: Donate $1! Tell 10 of your friends to donate $1! What a miracle it would be if everyone you knew could spread the word and gave a dollar.......$1 is something that we all can spare or share for good, meaningful use. We have now set up a new Paypal account that you can donate on-line. Just go to www.paypal.com and click send money. The email address you should use is Jasonsmiraclegame@yahoo.com. Or you can make donations at any Zions bank in the Jason Ostler Miracle Fund.

Take Care all of you! Life is so precious and often too short.

Thank you so much for your generosity and prayers!

With love,

Rachel Ostler and family
